Beverly Hills 90210: 25th anniversary flashback gallery

Brenda, Brandon, Kelly, Dylan, Donna, Steve, Andrea.

Brenda, Brandon, Kelly, Dylan, Donna, Steve, Andrea. If these names don’t ring a bell, it means you didn’t live in the 90s.  It was October the 4th 1990 (here in Italy we had to wait two more years) when Fox broadcast the pilot episode of Beverly Hills 90210, the cult TV show about love, relationships and friendship among a group of friends in Beverly Hills. A planetary success that infected millions of young TV viewers. Is there anybody who never dreamed of wearing a pair of cool sunglasses, jump on Dylan’s Porsche Cabrio and, with windswept hair, speed towards West Beverly? Beverly Hills 90210 has been a lifestyle phenomenon which has abruptly come into the fashion world. Do you remember Brenda and Kelly’s collection of clothes? We have to thank them if leggings, floral and tartan patterns, long brim hats, suspenders, shiny and colorful accessories, combat boots, swimming costumes cut high at the legs, and of course the mythical Mom Jeans have become usual items in our closets. Beverly Hills 90210 has been a catalyst for emotions, it helped to amplify the 90’s phenomenon, made its music, its movies and fashion popular among an international audience, eventually becoming the manifesto of our generation. Topics like anorexia, bulimia, drugs, sex, were, with this show, for the first time seen from the young people’s perspective. We felt someway represented by this young folks, so far from our society model. We can’t deny it, we’re a nostalgic generation! And I still feel like that young girl who used to cry together with Brenda listening to Losing My Religion…

With love, Elena
