I’m in Dubai…I’m in the souk.

51

I’ve already been in the past in a souk, exactly in the one of Marrakech, but I have to tell you the truth;it was completely different from the luxurious souk which is located in Dubai. Maybe I’ve been in the most modern one, I have no idea, but honestly I expected to find stalls selling fragrant spices and carpets placed directly on the ground or on asphalt, snake charmers, and everything that you can imagine if you have seen at least once in your life the film “Sex and the City” (which, moreover, and’ was filmed in the state of the emirs). But no: I and my friend “Santa” (Elena Santarelli) and our boyfriends, we were taken to a  last generation souk, with furniture stores complete with air conditioning, jewerly boutique that are also found in Corso Buenos Aires in Milan, and there was also a Cafe ‘Nero, the English competitor of Starbucks. But where is the Arab charm of the scent of caramel mixed with the cinnamon, the smell of leather, the handmade silver  ready to decorate the neck of  more’ flighty western women? I hope I was in the wrong souk …

with love, Elena

  2. Bello questo moderno souk! Sembra pero’ piu’ un centro commerciale! Sicura di non esserti confusa? 🙂

  5. I like the valuable info you provide in your articles. I’ll bookmark your weblog and check again here frequently. I am quite certain I’ll learn a lot of new
stuff right here! Good luck for the next!
