Geometric Bauhaus

Iceberg, Prada, Dior, Miu Miu. Nessuno sembra resistere al geometrico fascino Bauhaus.

At the beginnig Bauhaus was an architecture, art and design school that  came to life in Germany, during the early years of ‘900. The name was an invention of Walter Gropius, inspired by the old name of the construction workers building “Bahutte”. Rationalism, functionality and avantgarde were the main features of this school that deeply influenced the teaching and education of arts in europe until the nazism came. Even if with poor results, the school developed also in the textile field: twists, embroidery and macrame were the fundamentals taught in this school. Technical and abstract, the Bauhaus style was pure experimentation, and due to those experiments we have: artificial silk, chenille, and cellophan. Today the Bauhaus geometries and shapes came roughly back on the stage. During the next winter we wil see the typical look and functionality of this design adopted by the synthetic fabrics of Iceberg, Prada, Dior, Miu Miu. No one seems able to resist to the geometrical charm of Bauhaus.

With love, Elena.
