The hat is an accessory that everyone of us owns: summer straw hats, or a fedora felt hat, everybody can own one, right because there are hats for all budgets. You should know that the first hats, as we imagine them, appeared in the middle age: specially the flat hat dates back to that period, then it evolved, in the 1920’s, when the middle-high classes wore it during sporting occasions. As regards the fashion of hats for men, during the ’50’s came the time for the dome-hats, used mostly by jazzmen; then at the beginning of ’60’s widespread the mode of the bowler ( created for the first time in 1850 for the gamekeepers); up to the use of hats in the street style, the baseball caps. Regarding feminine fashion, the hats had the function to protect the face from the sun but also to draw attention on the same face or on the neck. At the beginnings of ‘900, because of their huge dimensions the hats were secured to the had with big pins, and the black straw was really in vogue. After all this time, there’s no more distinction between masculine and feminine hats, and right for this reason I often break in his wardrobe to steal some ideas for the head…

Thanks mia salvezza!
