l’intervista… Cristel Carrisi.

 IMG_5561

Diciamo che entrambe fanno parte di me: potrei essere cantante “by night” e stilista “by day”.

I think everybody knows Cristel a little: maybe cause she has a famous family behind, maybe ’cause she’s a beautiful girl, and’ she’s managed to carve out a great little space in the world of music before and fashion-design after creating the brand “Crisberry.” For me it ‘s just a great friend, with whom I spent a great summer, funny moments between Milan and Rome (our two cities’), and for this reason I wanted to make her better known to you, doing an interview for my blog .

1. Why  your clothing line is called “Crisberry”?

The name “crisberry is a nickname that I carried with me for years, and I do not even know why it was fastened to me. I liked it a lot, it makes me think of lightness and positivity ‘: a bit’ as I am! And for this reason I decided to give my brand this “nickname”.

2.Do you preferred to be defined singer or fashion designer?

I like to be called a ‘creative’. Let’s say that both are part of me: I could be singer “by night” and designer “by day”.

3. The creative path that led you to fashion.

Surely the design. I love to draw. I started with the design on the fabric, with graphic prints on the fabric. I used to draw sometimes with the PC, sometimes in pencil. Once I had created the press, I decided to “give it life.” One of my first designs were the unicorns that make the ” rainbow pupu”, and then this year came the prints with galaxies and candy. My sources of inspiration are Stella McCartney, Diane Von Furstenberg, Christopher Kane and the pop art by Jeremy Scott.

4. Do you let yourself be inspired by the music that you listen to when you create?

Absolutely! Now I like to listen to “my head is a jungle” of Wankelnut that surely will inspire ‘my next collection, and then I am inspired by also the art world.

5. Have you ever attended a school of design?

I attended some time ago in New York, the New School of Design, where you can take courses for short periods when they give you a general understanding. And it ‘was there that I learned the design and the fabric prints.

6. Summer is approaching … Tell me something about the vacation that you will always have in your heart.

I’ll forever remember my holiday in Australia with my parents. I was very young, I was 8 years old, and they were there for a tour. I remember that we were there for a  month and the thing that fascinated me the most’ was to see that nature, jellyfish and sharks. I think the inspiration to design a print of jellyfish (on the costumes and the leggings of the summer collection), it come just remembering that vacation.

7. Tell me a curiosity ‘: is it true that it was your grandmother (the Hollywood actress Linda Christian), to “discover” the Fontana sisters?

It ‘s true. She lived in Rome at that time, and no one knows who was the contact for which they met eachother, but as soon as she became aware of their talent, she decided that her wedding dress should be designed by them. And after marrying my grandfather Tyrone Power, the Fontana sisters, became famous throughout the world. She in addition to Fontana’ sisters, also loved to wear the garments of Chanel.

8. What would you like to say about you that nobody asked before in an interview?

I wish I were asked what are the expectations I have for my brand, Crisberry. My dream is to see the brand grow to the point to see the legs of the  girls covered with galaxies, jellyfish and candies.

(… And I’m sure she’s gonna see that…)

with love, Elena
