There’s only one Kate in town

Il suo nome è Kate, Kate Moss. Dopo di lei, qualunque altra ragazza di nome Kate, sarà sempre seconda: per sex appeal, grinta, personalità, ma soprattutto per quel senso dello stile e quell’eleganza che la renderà per sempre un’icona fashion a livello mondiale.Iniziò il lavoro di modella all’età di 14 anni, ed era considerata la “diversa” in mezzo a quel mondo di top model super belle, super alte e super formose. Lei era lo scricciolo dagli occhi da cerbiatto, scoperta al JFK di New York, mentre si stava imbarcando col padre su un volo per la sua città, Londra. I primi shooting andarono malissimo, nessuno credeva in lei, tranne la sua talent scout, che nel giro di un paio d’anni la fece approdare sulle copertine delle riviste più patinate del mondo: da “Vogue” a “The Face”, da “Dazed and Confused”a “W”. La piccola Kate divenne la Kate super star, quando dopo qualche anno di lavoro per i più prestigiosi stilisti al mondo, si fidanzò con il bad boy del cinema americano: Johnny Depp. Erano entrambi bellissimi, famosissimi, ricchissimi, ma fottutamente addicted ad uno stile di vita poco sano. Passavano da momenti di amore folle in cui lui la ricopriva di gioielli(rigorosamente vintage), a litigate in cui distruggevano camere d’albergo. Entrambi però, ogni volta in cui facevano un ‘uscita assieme erano uno spettacolo per gli occhi e per il cuore: lei sempre poco truccata con un viso da bambina e abiti pazzeschi che nel giro di poche settimane sarebbero diventati must have, lui capelli arruffati, giacche di pelle e quell’aria da gioventù bruciata in pieno stile James Dean. Ma anche questa favola dopo 5 anni finì, e nel 2001 ebbe la prima figlia, Lila Grace, dal direttore della rivista “Dazed and Confused”, da cui si separò poco dopo per fidanzarsi con Pete Doherty. Nel 2005, arriva lo scandalo “cocaine Kate”: per lei comincia un viaggio all’inferno apparentemente senza ritorno. Ma Kate, si sa, è sempre stata una fuoriclasse; dopo le scuse pubbliche, ecco che fioccano contratti milionari. Il suo cachet triplica, le sue campagne pure: da Burberry a Rimmel, fino ad arrivare a YSL e Dior, tutti la vogliono. Diventa stilista per Topshop con una linea che in poche ore fa il tutto esaurito, e secondo Forbes è la modella più ricca al mondo per ben 3 anni, seconda solo a Gisele. Dopo più di 20 anni di carriera, centinaia di copertine e campagne, la sua vita è ormai leggenda come il suo abito in tulle trasparente Calvin Klein che indossò quella sera del ’94 e che ancora oggi è ricordato come uno degli outift più belli di sempre. Ora Kate è cresciuta, l’anno scorso si è spostata con Jamie Hince, e un altro capitolo della sua vita è iniziato. There’ll  always be only one Kate in town.
