“it bags-handbags”.

Chanel255

The handbag as we know it was born during the first years of XX century, like a simple accessory where to keep make up stuff, during the 50’s the first “it bags” came to life, unreachable for the most (Kelly by Hermes, or 2.55 by Chanel) and only during the last twenty years the”it bags” became what they are today, which only last for one season. There isn’t a single fashion addict who can resist to a new creation by the stylist of the moment:  from the mini shoulder bags by Saint Laurent to the new versions of Celine or Balenciaga. But we all know, all these fabulous creations are just a way for the enterprises to gain: indeed, the sales volume are made in their bigger part by the perfume and accessories market. If the great Maisons had to found their profits only on the “ready to wear” products, or on the haute couture ones, they would have failed long time ago. I often fall in temptation in front of these new creations, but as time passes I undestand that is better owning a 2.55 more (maybe a vintage one) than owning ten “it bags” after only a season will fill the wardrobe of memories.

with love, Elena
