Happy Bday mini skirt! 50 years with us!

miniskirt1

How would the world be without miniskirt? Certainly more sad (for men) and less free be loved by other and themselves (for women). As Valentino says: “The miniskirt is the garment that no woman can’ give up on having. ‘Cause your knees are the last part of the female body to show age’ advancing”, holy words. But when was born the female garment par excellence? There are so many people who claim the paternity ‘: from Andre’ Courreges for France to Mary Quant for England, but this to me does not matter. The important thing is that from 1963 (50 years have passed!) it has become a symbol of liberation and emancipation of sex, no more’, ‘weak’. Icon of this battle was Sabah, the first Arab woman to wear this little strip of fabric. Then there were Twiggy, Veruschka, Jane Fonda in Barbarella, and then to the more ‘modern Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, Charlize Theron in the unforgettable Martini’s advertising and why not, the homegrown Veline. Here are some celebrative pictures I have chosen for you, for this very special birthday!

with love, Elena
